ABOUT
La Vieille Grange was originally built some 300 years ago and has been renovated single handedly by Brian, a qualified carpenter and joiner , to a high standard using much of the original oak and stone structures to create a sympathetic feel for times past.
Brian and Sue welcome you to La Vieille Grange Bed and Breakfast set in beautiful quiet surroundings in the Normandie countryside.

OUR ROOMS & RATES
We have two guest rooms; one double room with king size bed and a larger family room complete with Gothic double bed and two full size single bunk beds. Both rooms have luxury en suite shower and toilet facilities including complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and towels .
Tea/coffee making in your room is available on request.
Mineral water provided.
La Vieille Grange is open from April to September and our rates are 25 euros per person per night including continental breakfast

OUR SERVICES
Breakfast
Continental breakfast consisting of cereal, croissants, fresh bread, fruit juice, coffee or tea, is included in the price per person and is served between 8.00 and 9.30 a.m. in the dining end of our large open plan country kitchen (the original barn).
Garden
Guests are welcome to take breakfast in the sunken garden located at the front of our house, weather permitting, or perhaps enjoy a glass of wine before going out to dine.
Free Wifi
We do have free wifi. Please ask and we will help you get connected.
USEFUL INFORMATION
Whether staying for one night on your way down to the south of France or perhaps staying for a few days to visit some of the historic war memorials, including the American Cemetery at St James, the British and German cemeteries which are all within easy reach of La Vieille Grange B&B.
Eat out at restaurants in nearby St Hilaire du Harcouet or Mortain. Beautiful St Malo is one hour away with the stunning Mont St Michel just 45 minutes. Caen and the landing beaches are 90 minutes easily reached along the A84. Pegasus Bridge too.
The airports at Dinard and Rennes are one hour away and the beautiful beaches of Granville and Carolles are only a short drive from us. The ports of St Malo (1 hour), Ouistreham (1 hour 30 minutes) and Cherbourg (2 hours) are all within easy driving distance.
Visit Fosse Arthour near Barenton for a stunning walk around the picturesque lake. The Enchanted Village at Bellefontaine is only a short drive. It is ideal for children and adults. There is zip wiring over stunning woodland; take a picnic and enjoy the whole day there.
Just over an hour's drive is the beautiful beach of Vergers with clear blue sea and white sand. Perhaps try a lunch of moules mariniere at nearby Cancale.

Visit the local apple and pear museum near Barenton to learn how cider is made.
Leisure Activities
Swimming at the open air pool in Mortain or the indoor pool at St Hilaire du Harcouet. Nearby walks and cycle routes. Picturesque places to enjoy hobbies of photography and painting.
Market Day

Is Wednesdays at St Hilaire du Harcouet and is one of the biggest traditional French open air markets in the region.

DIRECTIONS
From St Hilaire du Harcouet take the D976 signposted Domfront. At the park at St Symphorien des Monts past the hotel on your left take the D171 on the left signposted Villechien. Drive down the hill, take the 4th right, at the crossroads, then first left into our drive.
From Mortain D977, down the hill and straight over the roundabout, take a left at Les Closeaux Phil, D46, follow this road to the junction, turn right, then second left for Villechien, D171, come through Villechien with the church on your right, carry on up the road approximately 2 kms to La Blanchere. La Vieille Grange is the 6th turning left from the church and our drive is first left.
